What an adventure:

We have had four Festivals, three trips to Snowdonia to visit Fr. Deiniol, two pilgrimages (one to Montenegro in Bright Week 2007 and one to Walsingham, November 07). We have started an Orthodox youth choir and made a debut at the Swanwick Conference, elected a small youth committee of 5 to organise events for 18-35 year olds, appointed 2 youth editors for Outlook and Forerunner, appointed 2 youth choir directors and launched this website.

We currently are in the process of planning visits to parishes around the country (do ask if that’s you!) and recording some CDs to raise money to support our youth projects. We have hopes of mobilising the troops to organise a fundraising concert – so watch that space on your parish notice board for a poster appearing in 2008! We are also looking forward to singing at the conference in Durham in July, as well as having two more pilgrimages for young people planned in 2008 (to Romania and Ireland). Last year we welcomed visitors to our Festival from Romania and Australia, and for our 4th Festival we are going global, with young people expected from Romania, France, Germany, Hungary and even possibly America. Please remember us at this time of adventure in your prayers.

A special thank you has to go to Marc and Clare Victoroff. We are indebted to them for the tireless energy they put into launching the 1st Orthodox Youth Festival, without which none of the above might have happened. We wish them God’s blessings in their new home in Paris, since their move there this Autumn with baby Patrick.

We ask for your prayers, that:

  • we would make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  Ephesians 4 v.3
  • we would love one another in Christ and lay aside our wills to serve that of each other.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Phillipians 2 v.1
  • we would be quick to forgive one another and look at the planks in our own eyes first
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4 v.8
  • we would grow and mature in our Orthodox Christian faith and discern our places in serving the wider church both now and in the years to come.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Jesus Christ, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15 v. 5
